Secret Garden

Today I planted my garden today... It is not much, since I live in an apartment but Matt and I are trying a few new plants this year to replace the peppers that where taken over by the swarm of aphids last year...

This year we are growing Strawberries (which came back from last year), Chives, Romaine Lettuce, Patio Tomatoes, Basil, Oregano and Cilantro. I have one pot remaining... not sure what I am going to grow in it...

I am interested in how the lettuce will turn out... I hope everything does well this year and no aphids!! *Puts the Malocchio on all aphids!* I already had one harvest with the chives. Matt's Grandma has two plants that came back last year and she gave me one....

As for flowers I have a gerbera daisy that I got from my boss and I notice last night I have twin flowers!

I might do hanging baskets this year flower wise... Something a little different but not sure as of now... of course I'll keep you posted ;)

Bradlios

Last week our friends were in town and we ordered pizza for dinner one night. We always drive past this little pizza joint called Bradlios... Well Restaurants.com had a gift certificate for them, so we gave them a try.

We order 2 pizzas.. The first one was a Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza. Which was pretty good.. could of used a little more bacon... The crust was really good too. Ranch was used as the sauce I am not sure what kind of cheese they used but it was really good... As you can see half of the pizza is already gone... the guys got to it before I could take the pictures :)

I do have to say I loved the crust on their pizza and the bottom of the crust had those yummy little black specks of goodness too!

The 2nd pizza we ordered was the Philly Steak pizza. It had steak, onions, green peppers, red peppers and mushrooms with a white sauce. The guys got to this pizza too but it was another really good pizza.

We also ordered a BLT Hoagie for my other friend and she said it was pretty good too but a little greasy.

Speaking of grease... The boxes look like the pizza is really greasy but it was not. I was thinking when I took my first bite that the crust was going to by soggy but I was wrong!

If you are in the Monroeville area... Give Bradlios a try!

Happy Easter!!

Happy Easter everyone! I hope the Easter Bunny will leave you a basket of goodies in the morning! ;)

Today I didn't do much.. took the day easy and watch the Pens game while I dyed Easter Eggs... I think I spent more time dying the eggs than watching the game... which I didn't miss much, since we lost :(

Anyways, I bought the dye kit last year on clearance from CVS and let me tell you, the cups for the dye was so much easier to use than using a coffee cup! I tried to match up the colors to the cup.. but as you can see I only got 2 out of 5 right ;)

I let the eggs site for 5 minutes in the dye... I think they turned out pretty nice.. I wish the pink would of been a little darker.. but they are pretty.. I was thinking about hidding a few around the apartment and having Matt find them... but with my luck, one would be forgotten and found a few months later :oP

Spring is one of my favorite season's of the year.. The other is Fall... I'm loving the weather right now, rain and all!

I can't wait to start my container garden again this year.. I think in about a week or so I'll pick out my plants... but no peppers this year :( The past 2 years I have a swarm of aphids that killed all of my pepper plants... everything else was fine, they just went after the peppers... damn aphids! grrr!

Enough about those pesky bugs... Here is a shoot of the first flowers on my Strawberry plant... Let's hope I get more than1 berry this year!! I think I might attempt to transfer this plant to a strawberry pot... I'm a little scared because I do not want to kill it..

Last but not least... Does anyone know what type of tree this is? I love when it is in bloom during this time of year.

Well it's getting late and I'm getting tired... G'night all!

The General.. General Tso

Tonight was a quick and easy dinner... Made General Tso's chicken with Brocolli while listening to Fear Factory's Archetype CD \m/ one of my all time favorites, if I might add....

I used Sun Bird seasoning mix for sauce and added a little bit of ground red pepper flakes to spice it up. I love their sauce mixes, they have a really good Mongolian beef mix too....

As for the rice, Matt's grandma sent home rice with peas and ground ginger from dinner a few night ago and all I had to add was a bag of broccoli and dinner was done!

For some reason when I make General Tso's I think it tastes better the next day... but does not even come close to Panda in New Ken.... and if your from NK you know what I am talking about!

The kitchen has been kind of quiet or I forget to take a picture lately... need to break that habit. Easter is coming up and I usually bring goodies into work, but I am off on Friday.. Woo hoo! Who knows maybe I'll bake something this weekend to bring in on Monday....

Well I'm going to keep it short and sweet tonight... Time to watch Matt kick some butt in Fall Out 3 and make lunches for tomorrow... AdiĆ³s!

Welcome to Burgatory......

Welcome to my first restaurant review :)

Tonight Matt and I went out to dinner with my mom to Burgatory Bar in Waterworks shopping center.

After driving around the plaza we find Burgatory tucked away in a corner, next to Barnes and Nobels and Uncle Sam's Sub Shop.

We walk in and the place is packed! There was a 45 minute wait, so we decided to stay. The hostess took our name and cell phone number... instead of giving us a pager, they text you when your table is ready. I though was pretty cool, because you can walk around and shop if you want. We decided to sit on the bench outside and wait, which is where I snapped the picture to the left.

So we get our text that our table is ready. The hostess made sure we got a booth versus a high top table. My mom and I are a little on the short side ;)

Our waitress comes overs, explains how we can order of the menu or make a custom burger by filling out a check sheet at our table. My mom and I started off with the Carmel Pretzel milk shake... Which is to die for! The perfect blend of salty and sweet... I had to take a picture because it was soooooo good! My cell phone camera is not the best at taking pictures in low lighting.... guess you will have to go and see/taste it for yourselves! ;) Matt ended up with an Arrogant Bastard beer, which happens to be his favorite and this is the first place we have went to that had it on tap. So, he was in heaven ;) Anyone who is into micro brews, Burgatory has a great selection and even a few local brews to choose from too.

For an appetizer we went with Pale Ale Onion Rings with Peppercorn Cream and Chipotle Horseradish
Dipping Sauces. The peppercorn cream was super yummy!

Now on to the burger... I was pretty full by the time our burgers came, but I had to take a few bites!! I ordered a Organic Bison burger with cracked peppercorn rub, Amish Gorgonzola, Bourbon BBQ sauce, Applewood smoked bacon, iceberg lettuce, tomato and red onion on a Brioche bun. The burgers come with a side of warm sweet and russet potato chips and a little pitch fork in the middle of each one >:) Let me tell you, my picture does not do justice for this burger. It is one of the best burgers I have ever had!!

By far Burgatory gets and A+ in my book. The atmosphere, drink and food selection was great! Oh and if you are a vegetarian, Burgatory is vegetarian friendly and have a veggie burger. So, if you live in the Pittsburgh area and are in the Fox Chapel area, stop by Burgatory... you won't regret it! ;)

Oh and of course I had to take a picture of the box my leftovers were in... ;)
